Throughout his childhood, Allen Chi’s parents encouraged his understanding of the value in giving back to one’s own community. The Chi family would often participate in local fundraising events and efforts to benefit the less fortunate. From a young age, Allen Chi was certain that he wanted to pursue philanthropy on a large scale. He envisioned founding and managing his own nonprofit organization. As an adult, he has worked closely with various charities throughout the years with a wide range of focuses from gaming and chess to technology and education.
His aim has always been to positively impact as many individuals as possible. Through his experiences, he has come to realize that rather than funneling all of his energy into one specific cause, Allen Chi wishes to lend his helping hands to a wide variety of communities. That’s why he is now working to support water charities that benefit people across the globe.
Every single day, approximately 1,400 young children lose their lives to diseases caused by contaminated water sources. While most people take their access to clean water for granted, others suffer due to a lack of safe water and sanitation. Charity Water strives to reach out and lend a loving, helping hand in the direction of communities in desperate need of clean water. Allen Chi started his own fundraising campaign with the organization and hopes to raise enough donations to provide an entire community with access to this vital resource via the development of clean water projects.
Founded by Gary White and Matt Damon, Water.org is a clean water charity with a different approach. Rather than focusing on a community’s immediate needs, Water.org aims to benefit for the long term. The nonprofit’s core focus is their Water Credits Initiative. Rather than providing communities with water for the short term, the Water Credits Initiative helps to implement a long term solution by assisting communities in securing and building long-lasting clean water resources.
